As the dark profile of the moon slowly moved across the face of the sun, suddenly it was night. Where the sun once shone a black hole had been drilled into the sky and a dark wind blew across the face of the water. July 2009 saw the longest solar eclipse of the century take place, these photos were taken from the deck of the Costa Classica near the island of Iwo Jima.
